49th Caterham Easter Sevens 2007 Tournament Rules – 11th April 2009
The tournament rules may be altered by the organiser up to the start of play on the day of competition. The Organisers Decision is final (please see rule 9)
1. In the Men’s Each team shall be chosen from a maximum team squad of 12 Players. There is no limit on squad size in the Ladies competition.
2. All matches will comprise two 7 minute periods with a half time interval of 1 minute.
3. The preliminary matches will consist of pools playing round-
4. Any player who volunteers to play for a “scratch team” will not be prevented from playing for their “own team”.
5. In the event of teams not being able to field a side for any preliminary matches their opposition will be awarded:
· (a) the win and 2 match points for a “walkover” and
· (b) a winning score of 25-
6. On completion of the preliminary men’s matches, the results of all participating teams will be entered into the Master League Table, which will be ranked according to the following criteria:
· Highest awarded match Points.
· Greatest Points scored Difference.
· Most Points scored.
The teams entering the Quarter Finals of the Main Knockout Stage will be the top eight men’s teams overall, placed 1st to 8th. The teams entering the Quarter Finals of the Plate Knockout stage will be the next eight men’s teams placed 9th to 16th.
In the event of two or more teams being equal on all three of the above criteria, they will be separated by the toss of a coin/random draw.
The Ladies competition structure will be confirmed on the day subject the final number of teams entering – Managers and captains will be advised at the briefing at the beginning of the day.
During the Knockout Stages, and the finals, in the event of both teams being level on points at the end of normal time, successive periods of 5 minutes shall be played until either side scores, i.e. “Sudden Death”.
In any game, a side may replace no more than 5 players. Players who have been substituted may replace an injured player. Replacements must be immediately available during each game. A player replaced through injury may play in subsequent games subject to medical approval.
A player who has been sent off cannot take any further part in the tournament, following the sending off. The team plays with less than 7 players for the rest of that game. The team is, however, allowed to start with 7 players for the next game(s)
Subject to rule 7, any 7 players from the squad of 12 may play in any game for their team.
